Pet Sitting Internationally - Lucy & Rita

Barcelona....the Gracia hood to be exact is our pet sitting home for Lucy the Lab & Rita the Kitty, Both very laid back and friendly. Rita was a bit illusive at first but we are now becoming fast friends...it helps when you are the petting & food source :-)
Here are my first portraits of them....

When I first heard about this pet & house sitting service I was excited to find great sitters for our Lovable Lupo.....after hearing of the wonderful sitting experiences they were having, I decided to pursue our own adventure that included sitting internationally. So here we are in the beautiful home of our new friends, what better way to see a country, meet interesting people, & get your fur fix!
Our next sit is back in France where we will get to meet Lipton the pup and his extended family of 5 Cocker Spaniels, a Lab and 4 kitty cats which will surely be a ton of fun ....
Barcelona pics coming in the next post!

Fast Train to Barcelona

First class on a double decker speedy train to Barcelona arriving at 4:05pm.
We took the metro from Marais, St Paul stop to Gare Lyon station. Next time I'll have to request the top level view.... I went up there and was able to hang out in the snack area, had an espresso, took some pics & video.
We are traveling backwards in our seats...kinda weird.
Beautiful green patchy fields fly by, Spring is almost here...daffodils popping when we left Paris..... a nice send off. Barcelona temp will be in the high 60s when we get there... Time to buy a pair of shorts?
Here is what I saw during the ride...Tried to upload a video here, didn't work well...I will have to learn that tomorrow..... ;-)

And of course...what's a 6 hour train ride without tech juice......

25 miles and sore legs

We walked over 25 miles yesterday & today and yes....my legs are quite sore! It's a great way to justify all the croissants and baguettes I've been consuming!
This mornings was a chocolate almond paste croissant, probably the best one so far. I will have to say, I am a little disappointed with the coffee, Octane in Atlanta is still my favorite for a cappuccino.....I never thought I'd say that! John made a good point, most of the beans all come from the same places these days and the machines are mostly the same... Go figure....

For this little leg of our trip we used Airbnb, the place we chose is in the Marais, an area recommended by a friend. The reviews were mixed but the price was right at $80.00 for a studio apartment. The location is perfect! There are a few bummers like trucks unloading and backing up at 5:00am just about every morning...but hey, it got us up early and the upside are all the fun shops along our street Rue de Rosiers.
John nabbed an old bomber/biker black leather jacket in a 2nd hand store for $40.00....."SCORE".... Even better it has tons of secure pockets to prevent pic-pocketing!

This was definitely creepy enough to warrant a shot...

Sometimes wandering takes you to unexpected surprises!

A bit of Paris Graffiti.....

Love Love Loved this bit of graffiti...

We finished the day with crepes both savory & sweet!

Getting inspired

Changed planes in Iceland, they had the most comfortable waiting area, these modern looking fabric covered pod things.
Our first day wandering around...These are some things that inspired me today....
We grabbed a sandwich and mini bottle of wine for lunch in the Luxembourg Gardens, the sun was out to keep us warm!

And We're Off!

We flew AA to Boston, we are now waiting for flight on WOW airlines to Iceland, new Airbus 321, supposed to be comfy... the price was definitely comfy.... We both managed to get everything in 2 backpacks, we both have Eagle Creek packs.

John's is 20 years old, mine brand spanking new from REI :-) I love it because it zips open like a suitcase making for easy organizing, and it's super cute!

We also got a backpack bag to put both our packs in so we only had to pay for one check-in bag.... then pop out our packs when we arrive and hit the metro!

I feel like a kid again! wait.... I never stopped!!!!

Looking forward to having my breakfast coffee and croissant the Parisian way tomorrow morning.... See ya'll there!
